‘Super’ Sage Northcutt is an ex-UFC fighter, ONE FC fighter, bodybuilder, and current real estate agent in California. Sage has competed in combat sports since he was four years old, coming from a martial arts family that includes his father and his sister, Colby Daniels, who also fights for ONE FC.
Super Sage is best known for his dramatic physique, showcasing an advanced level of mastery over the body domain and the path of bodybuilding. In an Ask Me Anything(AMA) session on Reddit, he revealed the bicep routine he uses to create his massive arms.
Super Sage Northcutt’s Bicep routine
Sage Northcutt does just two exercises for his biceps:
- Heavy straight-bar curls
- Concentration curls
That’s it. That’s his bicep routine. Nothing fancy or new, doing just what works, with one key caveat:
Super Sage has been doing bicep curls since he was six years old.
You don’t need a wide variety of exercises to grow strong arms, or any other strong muscles; instead, you need compounding. Consistent training over long periods of time will outlast and outperform all else.
Sage is 30 now. That means he’s been training his biceps consistently for 24 years.
There’s a quote attributed to Albert Einstein, although it’s questionable if he actually said it:
Even if he didn’t say it, the quote is right. Compounding is just as powerful in the body domain as it is in finance.
The longer and harder you train, the greater your results will be, and the greater your rewards will be.
Train hard, starting today. Get your family to train hard. Train your kids hard. Get your friends to train hard.
Look for opportunities to train in small, compounding increments. Like leaving a high-quality pair of adjustable dumbbells that will last for decades in your living room, and making a rule that every time you walk past them, you have to do bicep curls.
This rule provides compounding returns for your biceps.
Mastery can only help the individual, never hurt them. The pursuit of pleasure can only hurt the individual.
